POMERANIAN WORKSHOP FOR INTEGRATION
WITH AFRICAN ARTS AND CULTURE SOPOT
"ONE WORLD"

UNDER THE PATRONAGE OF HON. JAN KOZŁOWSKI

Eastern European and African states are very far apart in a geographical sense.
There is not much common history either; most countries in Eastern Europe never had colonies in the African Continent and with the exception of Mr. Kapu¶ciński not a single Polish scientist or scholar has significantly contributed into the research of this remote continent.
In addition no mass emigration processes have taken place between the two regions.Poland is no exception in this context. Since there are few African embassies or cultural centers in Poland,
the Pomeranian Workshop "One World"
is trying to take up the initiative to introduce the Polish Society to the diverse cultures of the African Continent.

With Poland building an open society and the process of globalisation becoming more intense in every corner of the world, geographical distances lose their importance. Thus, arts and culture of the previously remote continet may serve not only as educational material but also find it’s own place with the local audience and arts, as it happened in Western Europe.
